Client: National film company
Location: Downtown Toronto
Offices: One, plus multiple production locations
Employees: 50
Started with PACE: 2006
An expanding film company contacted us, concerned that their IT provider at the time could no longer handle its needs.
Before
The client had a fast-growing user base - which usually means increased IT requirements and issues. The client was worried that their data footprint had been growing on a piecemeal basis and was out of control. They were also concerns about data backups.
We found that the company had a peer-to-peer network, with no server (meaning that their system was not centralized). There was no organized way to share files, and no way for employees to collaborate effectively. More importantly, there was no way to limit access to sensitive files.
Security was also an issue. The system had no firewall, and no secure remote access.
Perhaps worst of all, the company had no backups of their data. They had already performed several forensic recoveries at great expense.
After
PACE deployed a Microsoft Small Business Server.
Now, all files reside on the server, where they are central and organized. Through the use of permissions, the client can limit or allow access to files. The server and all files are backed up nightly.
We also deployed a Microsoft Exchange Server.
Now, the system allows for greater collaboration between users. Communication is improved, with all e-mail - including mobile devices - now more reliable and efficient. And, employees easily access central calendars.
We also deployed ASTARO firewall/VPN appliance, to provide more security.
Now, the network’s perimeter is secure, and employees have secure and dependable remote access.
